A few Coachella 2025 performance observations:
Lady Gaga KILLED IT. From the vocals to the theatrics to the set list, this kind of headliner show is what makes Coachella special. I agree when people say this is an all-timer performance for the fest.
Post Malone... was a miss for a lot of people. I thought the country set was cool, but the majority sentiment across socials seems to be that Posty's set was not it. If you go to the comment section of any post of his performance, even on the official Coachella accounts, people are not rocking with the country spin on his hits. This isn't surprising though 🤷♂️ if you're tapped in you know a lot of people feel iffy about Post's shift to country and the culture vulture vibes + inauthenticity implications of it all...
With that said Megan Thee Stallion also had an AMAZING set. The love for this set is well deserved and I can see why people are saying she coulda been the headliner. Unfortunate she was cut off early.
Green Day + Clairo made the very admirable move of speaking up about the political state of the world right now. As someone who was volunteering at the Bernie rally on Saturday it was great to see him open up THAT NIGHT for Clairo. And, Green Day used their platform on the main stage to advocate for human rights in a way that has made them a standout of the weekend for me. Again if you followed social sentiment around the weekend both moments brought A LOT of goodwill to the artists and the fest.
Travis Scott shut it down with his comeback closer set on Saturday. From walking on walls to doing the Nokia X Modern Jam mashup live, I loved this.
Lola Young was going through it on stage and the livestream botched her audio a bit, but she is so talented and killed it regardless. Her new single she premiered, One Thing, is going to be big... mark my words.
