Charlie Wilson deserves his flowers

Few artists have had the long-lasting cultural impact and cross-generational resonance that Charlie Wilson has had. 

From iconic Gap Band hits in the 80s, to Y2K genre-defining features with Snoop Dogg and Pharrell, and generational hooks for Ye and Tyler, The Creator in the last decade, Uncle Charlie is undeniably one of the GOATS of the music industry. It’s also worthy to mention that because of this, numerous tracks of his have become mainstay TikTok trends. Even my own personal TikTok post from last month featuring his classic single “There Goes My Baby” has over 250K+ views and 60K+ likes. 

With this, I would LOVE to see more brands work with him and utilize his star power + iconic tracks. Having genuine pull from Gen-Z to Boomers, a creatively developed ad campaign with Charlie has the potential to do real numbers on socials. Something in a similar vein to the highly talked about Seal X Mountain Dew campaign would generate a lot of buzz... ideally we could make it a bit less weird though.

What kind of campaign and brand could you picture featuring Uncle Charlie? Regardless, I for one would 100% watch an ad all the way through if I heard “Hey girl, how you doing? My name is Charlie, last name Wilson” at the start of it 🤷‍♂️
